MBP (Mersey Body Positive) was established, through the amalgamation of Liverpool Body Positive and Wirral Body Positive in 1988. A community based voluntary self-help organisation that offered support, advocacy, and access to financial help for people living with HIV/AIDs. MBP Operated out of ‘The Living Room’, a small room in the Maryland Centre in central Liverpool, where the Needle Exchange (established 1986) was based. It developed close ties with the Merseyside AIDS Support Group, a complimenting organisation that later merged with MBP to form Sahir House nearly a decade later.
