Sahir House provides holistic care, support and practical assistance to people living with HIV including their partners, carers, dependants and families. The charity also provides education and training to professionals and the general public about HIV and sexual health.
Formed in 1995 by the merger of Merseyside AIDs Support Group and Mersey Body Positive (both running since the mid-1980s), Sahir House is Liverpool’s longest-running LGBTQIA+ charity. They established themselves in Rodney House and named the charity ‘Sahir’, an Arabic word meaning positive, which helped provide anonymity to those using the service. Today, they offer their services from 151 Dale Street, with most of their support services delivered in various spaces in and around Liverpool.
