A cornerstone of Liverpool’s Stanley Street gay quarter, this 1888 Grade II listed landmark has been a gay bar since the 1960s. This basement pub is characterised by its relaxed and friendly atmosphere within a classic pub interior of richly molded ceilings, wood-panelled snugs, pool tables, fruities, and big screens showing the footy - but it is able to transform into party mode with a checkerboard dance floor and club lights.

Regulars to the Lisbon know all too well of the iconic resident drag queen Lady Sian and her wild events such as Wacky Wednesdays and Sunday Fun days that include pub quiz rounds, psychic bingo, and “Whats in my bag?” - to name a few.

The Lisbon sponsors Mersey Marauders FC - Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ football team and for the past two decades has been run by landlady Eileen Lea.
